Building A Modern House With 180° Ocean Views | Minecraft Modern House Timelapse #2

The second Minecraft Modern House Speed Build by REALCHITECTURE is out! I’ve taken a lot of learnings from the first modern house speed build and applied it to this build, including better shader settings, smoother use of the Replay Mod, and a general improvement in my Minecraft building skills. There’s still a lot to be worked on, but every new build comes with tremendous advances in quality.

This Minecraft modern house build was inspired by a Bel Air home that OpenDoor’s CEO and co-founder, Eric Wu, bought in 2022.

The first thing that stood out to me when I first saw the Bel Air home was the glass cantilever floating in the air. And since I was building my second Minecraft modern house right next to the first modern house that already had Bel Air and West Vancouver modern house vibes, I decided to continue with the theme.

Hence, I used a similar structural style to that of Eric Wu’s home but adjusted many of the materials and design to make it my own design.

Since this was my second time making a Minecraft modern house timelapse, the build went much smoother. The project took me about 7 hours (3 hours faster than the previous modern house), and the video came out better than last time.

Apart from having more experience making Minecraft build videos after doing it once, I also played around with various shader settings to make the overall video less fuzzy (a problem I faced in the first Minecraft build). While the default color and lighting settings give a more realistic gameplay experience in Minecraft, it doesn’t make for clear video and image productions.

I also decided to lock Minecraft time and weather in this build. It was getting annoying when it rained every 5 minutes, and sometimes it was hard to see what I was doing when everything was so dark.

Overall, this was a build I was super happy with. I still have to improve Minecraft interior design and planning, but that will come with time and practice.

  1. Thank you so much for the very informative post here. I appreciate the creative and impressive construction of the modern house with ocean views, and I just love the attention to detail and design choices in the project. After soaking in the information from your post, I wondered which techniques and tools you would recommend for building a house like the one on the video, but on the shore of a beach where there is only one side with a view of the ocean. Please let me know. Thanks.

    1. I would use a lot of windows and large panes of glass on the side with a view of the ocean to maximize your views, but otherwise, there are a lot of other factors to consider.

  2. Both my children have and still do play Minecraft. I think it’s a fascinating game that enables the player to release their creativity and it’s so clever how so much can be built from the platform. The more it progresses the more I’m fascinated by how details can be build within the platform. Love the Bel Air home with its floating cantilever and style. It’s incredible how realistic these buildings look and computers have come such a long way from when I was a child.

  3. Thank you for sharing the Minecraft Modern House timelapse video on your blog. I found the design of this modern house to be impressive. The video was also entertaining and informative to watch.

I do have a question about the materials used in the construction of the house. What inspired you to use concrete and glass as the main materials?

    Thank you for sharing it!

    1. Thank you for commenting! To answer your questions, most modern homes like the Bel Air homes that inspired me use a lot of concrete and glass, so I kind of just carried on the same theme.

  4. Such a good build! This was super fun to watch and came out looking amazing! I have done some big builds on ARK but never played much of minecraft honestly. Think I am going to have to check it out now. Keep up the great work and I look forward to getting to watch more of these killer builds!

  5. Hey Kevin, this build looks pretty awesome.  You’ve beaten your first time of 10 hours building your first minecraft home and did this one in 7 hours that is extremely impressive.

What else does minecraft allow you to do or do you just build with this game? I’m not familiar with it.

    1. I personally just build in Minecraft, but most people actually play the survival mode. The sky’s the limit with Minecraft really once you start adding the mods too.

  6. Thanks for this detailed and interesting post on building a modern house with Minecraft modern house speed build.

I’ve learnt a lot but also have many questions.

Not being a Minecraft user, can this program provide for real architectural home designs? This design that you have shown in your post looks simply stunning. The huge glass floating cantilever that you mentioned, seems incredible. It would be fascinating to use this tool to design and build amazing homes.

What other designs have you completed using this program? I would be interested to see some more examples from you. Thanks again for this informative post.

    1. I have a few more Minecraft designs coming out. Unfortunately, Minecraft is probably not the tool you want to be using for real architectural home designs, though and you probably want to be using tools like Sketchup and AutoCAD instead.

  7. Hey thank you for this very artful post!

I am quite new to Minecraft, though I wouldn’t say totally new since I have been playing it for quite some years but every now and then, a significant difference compared to my brother who is everyday on the game.

I mean I can try to build a smaller structure but it would require some time and dedication or I can choose the easier option and share it to my brother who would love to spend the time designing such a cool building!

The rainy weather can surely be a nuisance when building even more so when you are a newbie like myself.

Thanks again and have a great day!

  8. Just checked out your Minecraft modern house timelapse video, and it’s beyond amazing! You’ve got mad skills when it comes to blending architecture and gaming. That glass wall showcasing the ocean views? Breathtaking!

Your choice of location and design elements are on point, making me want to dive into Minecraft myself. Can’t wait to see what you create next! Keep up the fantastic work!

  9. Wow, Realchitecture! Your Minecraft modern house timelapse video is absolutely stunning! I was blown away by the attention to detail and creativity you put into building a modern house with 180 ocean views. The design elements and architectural features you incorporated are both unique and functional, making it a perfect place to call home. I loved watching the timelapse and seeing the house come to life before my eyes. You’re truly talented, and I can’t wait to see what other amazing projects you have in store. Keep up the fantastic work!

  10. Hey, you dear friend. To be honest, I’m not a fan of these things, but my younger brother is crazy about Minecraft. I will share this post with him and I’m sure it makes him so happy. The thing which is so interesting for me is that Minecraft is more than a game. It can even be a project based on science and facts. The video was so entertaining. Thanks a lot for sharing my friend.

  11. Wow, I am impressed. A few days ago I saw the first house you built, and that was amazing. Now you have a bigger and fancier one and it took you even less time to build. I guess practice makes perfect.

I haven’t tried out Minecraft yet and am too scared to as it does look rather addictive. I probably wouldn’t get much else done. Could architects use this program to design real houses, or is this totally for imaginative use?

  12. Wow, this modern house build is absolutely stunning! I love the way you took inspiration from the Bel Air home and made it your own with your unique design and materials. Your attention to detail and improvements in Minecraft building skills are evident in this timelapse video. It’s great to see how you’ve refined your shader settings and use of the Replay Mod to create a smoother and clearer video. The ocean views from this modern house are breathtaking, and I can imagine how relaxing it must be to sit and enjoy them. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to seeing more of your Minecraft builds in the future!

  13. Woaw seven hours trying to design something is quite some good number of hours,, I really love the creativity the beautiful and the view of the mine craft, the view is so amazing, nowonder it took you seven hours beautiful things take time!! And this is it. Compared to your first Minecraft,, this one is amazing

  14. Thank you again for sharing your Minecraft Modern House video. I love your design of this house, it is very impressive. The video was also knowledgeable, informative, and entertaining. I will share your blog again with my three grandkids. They enjoyed your last Minecraft video and I am sure they will enjoy this one too.

Thank you for sharing and I look forward to more home designs.

    Carol

  15. This is freaking amazing. I love your architectural designs. It seems you can handle the game really good. Obviously I have seen far more complex constructions in Minecraft but your designs are lovely and I love the lighting and shaders very much. It makes it looks so much warm and realistic even with these blocky graphics.

  16. I haven’t played Minecraft in a couple of years, but it’s videos like this that remind me why I found the game appealing and why I should really get back into it. I can’t get over how good those glowstone light fixtures look, and just the overall attention to detail. I’ll have to grab that resource pack when next I play for those realistic textures. Thanks for sharing, and I look forward to seeing more!

  17. I really like the result of your MineCraft build of a Modern House With 180° Ocean Views way better than the previous effort Kevin, it appears much more homely and resulted in a vastly more authentic aesthetic for this luxurious architecture home.

The video shows you are very proficient at manipulating the MineCraft platform as your progress doesn’t get bogged down, or at least if it did you edited it well.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of learning curve are we talking about when working with the MineCraft Platform? Is this something I can pick up pretty quickly or is the curve more steep than that?

    1. Minecraft is really easy to pick up, especially if you’re just building. Just right click to place blocks and the sky is the limit!

  18. Wow… just Wow! This is absolutely impressive! You did an incredible job building from your inspiration photo. I showed this to my Minecraft obsessed children and they thought it was awesome. We enjoyed watching the timelapse and it gave them some inspiration for when they are building houses. Congrats on beating the time on your last build. I’m sure with each build you will get faster and faster!

  19. You have brought building and architecture to a whole new level. I now have a different view of MInecraft than what I originally did.

The imagination and creativity are amazing. It would just be fun to be able to go thru or even live in it! Ocean front property!

Computers have certainly come a long way compared to the first one we brought home and set up in our basement for the family to use!

    1. Oh yes, the cool things we can do with computers nowadays always blow my mind. Thank you for commenting!

  20. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your article about the process of building a modern house with 180° ocean views in Minecraft. As someone who appreciates architecture and design, I find it fascinating to see how Minecraft can be used as a platform to create stunning structures.

It’s impressive to see how you were able to take your learnings from your first modern house speed build and apply them to this second build, resulting in a smoother and more polished final product. The attention to detail in your use of shader settings and the Replay Mod, as well as your decision to lock Minecraft time and weather, all contributed to making your video a more enjoyable viewing experience.

  21. Thanks so much for this fabulous post, I found it very impressive and it shows you are very creative. The video was a very good timelapse of the whole process and the attention to detail is great. I really enjoy Minecraft and watching you create something with great design elements was amazing.

  22. Wow, this is amazing!  I’m 55 years old and I can say they certainly don’t make houses like they used to!  LOL  I grew up in ranch style homes in rural neighborhoods.  Your post shows what feels like a whole new world, and an exciting one at that!  Thanks so much for sharing this.

  23. Allison Jenkins

Wow, that is a cool design. I really liked the timelapse of your buildiing. It helped me learn and see how it can be done because I don’t play minecraft that often!

I think I’m inspired to build something now. I look forward to more posts like this one. Thank you.

  24. I’ve watched my kids do this a lot. They usually build their own little houses and huts and it is always neat to see what they can do with the game. I liked how you touched on different shading, that’s something I never thought of.

What were the ways you incorporated your own unique style and designs into the Minecraft house?

    1. My unique style is really about taking inspiration from other pieces of architecture and then mashing them together into one new thing. So a lot of my designs are really just a combination of elements from various things I’ve seen in life.

  25. This article is a great read! It’s so interesting to hear about the thought process and the decision making that goes into building a Minecraft modern house. It’s cool to see how Eric Wu’s Bel Air home inspired this build, and the improvements you made on the shader settings and Replay Mod usage. The final result looks fantastic, and I’m sure with more practice you’ll be able to level up your interior design skills as well. Great job!
