Building A Cliffside Modern House With Floating Infinity Pool | Minecraft Modern House Timelapse #1

Hello! Welcome to REALCHITECTURE’s very first Minecraft modern house speed build and timelapse (and video). This build was a huge learning experience for me. I wanted to build one of my family’s real-life home redesign concepts in Minecraft, and it was super interesting trying to work with Minecraft limitations to create something realistic while keeping the charm of Minecraft.

At first, I wanted to make something that resembles the real-life design we plan to implement as close as possible. However, shortly after starting the build, I realized that wouldn’t be possible or desirable.

For one, the location of this build within the Minecraft world is at the corner of a mountain overlooking the ocean. It would not be a good design if I didn’t try to maximize the view as much as possible. So instead of building walls on the side of the office and dining room like the real-life design (because neighbors are on the other side), I opened it up with windows to give total 90-degree views.

Another change was the roofing style on the infinity pool side. The original design involved sloped roofs since we did not want to go through the trouble and costs of building an entirely new roof in real life. In Minecraft, however, I was building a new house from scratch, so it did not make sense to go with a sloped roof in combination with the flat roofs, so I decided to go with a completely new design.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with how the design turned out in Minecraft. Believe it or not, this is one of the first Minecraft creations I could see through from start to finish. And although there is a lot that could be improved on, it is a finished product.

If I were to do this again, however, there are a few things that I would be tweaking right away. Since this was also my first time recording a Minecraft build, I wish I had planned my build better beforehand.

The total time it took for me to complete this video from Minecraft build to post-production was about 10 hours. One of my biggest struggles was trying to record the timelapse.

It was so difficult because my build was all over the place. I would be building the front part of the house in one moment, then suddenly switch to the interior, and then move on to another face without fully completing any part. I would be more focused on building one layer at a time for next time.

Something else I would change right away are some of my Minecraft shader and Adobe Premiere Pro rendering settings. I was a little disappointed by the quality of my video. An ongoing fuzziness throughout the video is especially noticeable on larger screens like the 1440p monitor I use. The video is still watchable, but I would love to make it more clear, and that’s something I’ll be trying to figure out.

On the topic of changes, more improvements need to be made, but more on a long-term skill improvement basis. I would love to get better at interior and landscape design. I overlooked these details when I first started building in Minecraft because they weren’t necessarily practical as a Minecraft player. But as a Minecraft builder, these little design elements and the builder’s ability to get creative make a good build exceptional.

It is a long-term game of testing and practicing, but it is a game I’m willing to play.

  1. Terrific idea for an article Kevin, such a great result you achieved while Building A Cliffside Modern House With Floating Infinity Pool using Minecraft. There are some really cool effects even though you had to deal with the limitations of such a platform as Minecraft.

I have to admit, I’m a little ignorant of exactly what Minecraft is, the extent of my knowledge before reading your article being watching it keep my grandkids, nieces and nephews busy while there parents needed them distracted.

I thought the video was fascinating and expected the results to be much worse than what I witnessed after hearing you describe some if the issues you would change with the Minecraft platform. Overall, a very good result!

  2. Hello, Realchitecture cool video. I’m not into Minecraft, but I do watch a lot of HGTV, so I can appreciate what you have done here. I saw this took 10 minutes to edit because of the time-lapse. One thing on HGTV that they do on their shows is a big entrance when walking into a room to show remodels. If you can figure out how to do that, especially with that ocean view, you could probably snag a whole non-gamer crowd.

what a fantastic idea for a post, and what a fantastic outcome you accomplished when Creating A Cliffside Modern Home With Floating Infinity Pool Using Minecraft. Even though you had to cope with the restrictions of a platform like Minecraft, there are some pretty beautiful effects. After hearing you discuss some of the difficulties you would alter with the Minecraft platform, I expected the results to be far worse than what I observed. Overall, a really excellent outcome!

  4. Let me start off by saying, seeing a thumbnail and not paying attention to the title. I thought it was a real house, well done.

After watching the video I have seen a total of probably 15 min worth of anything mine craft.

Considering the limitations of the platform, what you pulled off was amazing. In real time how long did that take?  The office window walls..love the look of that,

    Again well done.

    1. Hi Tim, thanks for the kind comment! The actual build took about 7 hours, with 3 hours spent on editing.

  5. Hey Kevin, stumbled upon your article after a good ol’ Google search, and I must say, I’m blown away! I mean, who doesn’t love a swanky cliffside modern house with a floating infinity pool, right? As a Minecraft enthusiast, your creativity and attention to detail are just top-notch, mate.

Now, about the house, I adore the way you integrated the structure with the natural landscape. It’s as if the house was always meant to be there. I’m curious, though, how long did it take you to build this masterpiece? Also, did you encounter any major challenges while constructing it?

I’ve dabbled a bit with building modern houses in Minecraft myself, but never thought of incorporating an infinity pool! Genius idea, if you ask me. Your post has definitely inspired me to experiment more and up my Minecraft game. Watch out, world! I might just build the next architectural wonder. 😜

Thanks for sharing this incredible work of art with us, Kevin. It’s been an absolute treat to read your article and marvel at your creation. Keep up the fantastic work, and I look forward to seeing more of your jaw-dropping builds! Cheers! 🍻

    1. Hi Bob, thank you for your comment! The house took about 7 hours to build, with approximately 3 hours spent on editing. My biggest challenge was probably building with good scale. Anything smaller and the home really wouldn’t be functional, and anything larger would have taken me even longer to build.

  6. Wow, this house is amazing and close to perfect the way I see it. The setting is beautiful and I could easily imagine myself enjoying a place like that. I am not sure how it all works architecturally, but not sure how that pool would not fall down the cliff, but it would be amazing if it could look like that.

You obviously have a lot of patience as spending ten hours on this project must have been painstakingly slow going. I love how you show a sped-up version on the video of how you put it all together.  Congratulations.

    1. Thank you for commenting! The coolest thing about Minecraft is how you can pull off designs that would almost never fly in real life. It makes for some really interesting concepts.

  7. As someone who enjoys playing Minecraft and building houses, I found this article about building a cliffside modern house with a floating infinity pool quite interesting. The timelapse video of the building process was particularly engaging and inspiring. I appreciated how the author provided step-by-step instructions on how to recreate this house, including the materials needed and the specific dimensions. However, I do wonder if it would be difficult to replicate this design in survival mode, since some of the materials used might be hard to come by.

    1. Thank you for commenting! Building this in survival mode would definitely be tough. I’m always impressed by how people build amazing things in survival and hardcore modes, given that there are even more limitations in those modes.

  8. hello

I would say that it’s great that you’re trying to bring real-life home redesign concepts into Minecraft and it’s impressive how you managed to work around Minecraft’s limitations to create something realistic while keeping the charm of Minecraft. I can see that you’ve put a lot of thought and effort into this build, and I appreciate how you explained your design choices. Understandably, there are things you would change or improve upon, but overall it’s an impressive finished product. Keep up the good work, and continue honing your interior and landscape design skills!

  9. Wow, this Minecraft timelapse is truly impressive! The design capabilities of this platform never cease to amaze me, especially since it is a game. It’s amazing to see how far Minecraft has come and how it continues to evolve as a platform for creativity and design. This video is a true testament to the endless possibilities that Minecraft offers for those with a creative and imaginative mind.

  10. Loved the video! I don’t really know much about minecraft, but this was very interesting to watch. I can’t believe it only took 10 hours!

This looks like a very successful video game, especially for those that love working with effects and what not!

Can’t wait to see what you create in the future!

  11. First of all, I was impressed with the level of detail you put into the build. I could see where you were making the changes as you went along, for instance the roof like you mentioned.

Secondly, I have a 12 year old that sat down beside me and watched the whole thing. She’s hardcore into Minecraft and was telling me to a T what you were doing and when. She recognized that you had an expansion pack? I don’t even know what that is, so…..

I guess in the end, it was a job well done. According to her, she said you did really well in 10 hours! I would have to agree 🙂

    1. That’s awesome! I once read that a kid’s compliments are always the most truthful ones so I’m super happy to hear that your daughter liked it. The expansion pack is probably referencing the few mods and resourcepacks which are linked in the article.

  12. Hello, Kevin! I enjoyed watching your Minecraft modern house timelapse video showcasing the building of a cliffside house with a stunning floating infinity pool. The attention to detail in the design and construction of the house is impressive, and the finished product is truly breathtaking.

I’m curious, what inspired you to create this particular design, and what was the biggest challenge you encountered during the building process? I’m always fascinated by the creative process that goes into designing and building unique and innovative structures. Thank you for sharing your work!

    1. Thank you for the comment! This design really came from one of our personal home redevelopment ideas. My mom wanted something modern and kept sending me photos of modern homes. Many of them had this L design element in their structure which is one of the main highlights of this design.

  13. Wow, this is an amazing result, building and designing a modern house in a game of Minecraft, can’t wait to try it out! Because it is built in 10 hours only, it is fantastic what you can do with this. Would an architect use Minecraft to build houses in reality or would other software be more suitable? It looks like something I would want to live in real life!

    1. Thanks for your comment! To answer your comment, generally, architects won’t use Minecraft to build houses in reality because the game is limited when it comes to designing with proper scale and detail. Most of the time, they use software like Sketchup, AutoCAD, Revit, etc.

  14. WOW! So, I’ve never been one to spend lots of time on Minecraft but after this I might just have to start building my own cliffside modern house! How long did it take you to build it? I also really liked the fact you had a video complementing the text which I found brilliant! Do you come up with the ideas yourself or do you usually inspire yourself from other people’s content? Thank you for the brilliant content and keep it up!!!

    1. Thank you for commenting! The build itself took me about 7 hours. And while all my builds are my original work, I get inspired by other people and borrow various design elements to improve my own builds.

  15. Thank you for sharing this construction experience. I am not in the construction industry but I am fascinated when I see unique architectural creations like this. Taking a thought in one’s mind and moving it from conceptualization to having it in reality, is a fascinating process. I was particularly intrigued by the expertise required to construct the hanging pool.

My question though is about safety. Considering the location of the pool and how exposed it is to potentially raging natural elements, how do you ensure that it is always safe for use?

    1. Thanks for the comment, Oluseyi! Honestly, I don’t ensure that the pool is safe for use all the time… this was more about building something that was cool rather than designing a practical house for reality, especially because I’m building in Minecraft.

  16. Minecraft seems like a great tool for you to conceptualize your house. Are you able work on the interior of the house as well.  Many years ago, I built a home.  We, of course, had plans and an simple drawn conceptualization but nothing like what you have been able to do.  We like the house, but there were some things we would have changed if we had seen it more clearly before.  This is an interesting tool.  Thanks for presenting it here.

    Jim

    1. Thanks for commenting! Minecraft is actually a very difficult tool to use for home design because of its limitations. You would probably want to use something else like Sketchup if you want to get a lot more detailed.

  17. My grandkids play Minecraft all the time. I never occurred to me that it could develop a skill in building and designing homes designed by them.  Very interesting news about real estate and investing pros and cons . You show great knowledge in that area, shows you did hours of research. I will now encourage my grandkids to play Minecraft. Knowing that it expands them and can become an asset to them in the future. It expands their creativity side of home development. I foresee a newer generation of homes. Thank you.

    1. Yes, building in Minecraft can definitely spur passions and talents for home design. I love architecture today and attribute a lot of it to my time spent building homes in Minecraft when I was a kid.

  18. Wow this is very mind blowing that you could build this type of house in Minecraft. I’m not really into Minecraft, however I played the Sims, and I remembered really enjoying building different types of houses and buildings. I remembered it was a cool experience. But would be more awesome if I could build those fancy houses in real life lol. Thank you for this article, very inspiring!

What a great niche – building a cliffside modern house With Floating Infinity Pool using Minecraft.  Minecraft is not easy, and has lots of limitations, but I’m impressed with the coolest effects. After reading your article and seeing you describe some of the issues you had while using the platform, I watched the youtube video you have embedded in the article. It was great.

  20. I am highly impressed by this post and what you have put together in minecraft.  My son was heavy into minecraft at one point and I think he still work on it some, or plays on it.

Still, this is an objective post about what you put together and what you would do different.  I always like objectivity because life is not perfect.  You still made an impressive video and you know what you would like to change, and you are the one who matters.

It sounds like you have an interest in architecture.  Keep pursuing that and keep working with minecraft.

  21. This is a rare niche Kevin and your content is great. I am not an architect and I don’t know much about Minecraft but it’s very clear from your article that it is a vital tool for architects. Keep up the great work.

  22. Hey there, fellow Minecraft enthusiast!

I just stumbled upon your incredible article on building a cliffside modern house with a floating infinity pool, and I have to say, I’m seriously impressed! It’s not every day that you come across such an innovative and breathtaking creation. Kudos to you for sharing this epic timelapse with all of us!

What I really loved about your project was how you managed to seamlessly blend the elements of modern architecture with the natural environment. The way you used different materials to create a cohesive design, while paying homage to the surrounding landscape, is nothing short of genius. The open concept living area, coupled with floor-to-ceiling windows, really helped to bring the outdoors in and make the entire space feel more expansive. And can we just talk about that floating infinity pool for a second? It’s such a stunning feature that adds a whole new level of luxury and relaxation to the build. I can just imagine watching the sun go down while taking a dip in that pool, with the world at my feet. You’ve really outdone yourself here!

I’m looking forward to seeing more amazing creations from you in the future. Keep up the fantastic work, and happy building!

  23. Stunning! Having a modern house on a cliffside with a floating infinity pool would be a dream come true for me. I love watching local celebrities showcase their vast and beautiful houses and I can’t help but wonder how much they spent on them. I understand that they had to work really hard to be able to build their houses.

But a modern house just like the one you designed is not very common. I am guessing this will cost much more because it’s not just about the house design but more about the view. I believe that living in a house like this will give one more peace and serenity in life.

By the way, do you sell your beautiful house designs? It must be very difficult to perfect them, with the editing, visual effects, and everything else that would make your design more attractive.

    1. Thank you for the comment! I don’t sell the designs at the moment, but perhaps in the future!

  24. Hey Kevin –
I have heard about Minecraft, but until today I had not seen anyone use it. The video is fantastic even though it took over 10 hours to complete. From my vantage point, it appears that it is fun but challenging to create a house within Minecraft.

This is a stupid question, but are there directions within the app on how to build? Or is it tacit learning?
This video has piqued my interest.  Well done with article and video.

    1. In creative Minecraft, right-click to place blocks which is the basis of building. Thank you for commenting!

  25. Wow, this is an impressive Minecraft modern house timelapse! The cliffside location and floating infinity pool are amazing features, and it’s fascinating to watch the building process. The attention to detail is incredible, and I love how the final product blends in so well with the natural surroundings. The video editing and music add to the overall viewing experience. Great job on this project and thank you for sharing it with us!

  26. The amazing fact that makes Minecraft so different from others, Is that it is so close to reality and you can play based on facts. your video is so entertaining and I enjoy watching it.
Kevin, I appreciate how much you like what you do and it is very impressive. Way to go, buddy.

  27. WOW this is so beautiful, I really love the view and location, I have always had a dream of having my house near such a place so that I can have a fantastic view always.. it being your first time to do this, I see it great and beautiful work for sure. Actually don’t regret about the quality practice makes perfect. And experience is the best teacher .

  28. I am so glad to have run across your article on designing a house on Minecraft. My three grandkids play Minecraft and have tried to teach me so many times. They are very good at it. I understand a little more about the difficulty in designing in Minecraft now. I will share this article with my three grandkids as I am sure they will want to read your blog too. Thank you for the knowledgeable writing. I really enjoyed it.
    Carol

  29. Although I was never excited with Minecraft in general I have been mind blown by some of the constructions players are making in this game. And you video shows that there can be great diversity on what it can be used for. I have seen players even creating freaking computer cpus  in this thing! The sky is the limit with this game and I can certainly see its appeal.

    1. Yes, some of the creations people have built in Minecraft are absolutely crazy and inspiring. One day I shall do that too 🙂 Thank you for commenting!
