The Story of Realchitecture

One Small Blog For Agents

Realchitecture’s name is a combination of real estate and architecture. I first started Realchitecture as a blog where I create content related to real estate and architecture.

I come from a real estate background with a huge interest in architecture and design. My dad studied as an architect in post-secondary and became a builder where he had a large company building office buildings in China.

When he moved to Canada, my dad’s operations became much smaller and mostly revolved around single-family home renovations and other contractor work. I often tagged along to look at all these different houses which cultivated my interest in architecture and building.

I hated school, though. I’m a university dropout.

Becoming a licensed architect in Canada required one to go to architecture school for quite some time and I wasn’t going to do that. I would much rather pay architects and contractors to design and build buildings for me than do it myself anyway.

So instead, I became a real estate agent.

When I was in the process of becoming a real estate agent, I discovered a huge gap in the industry. I was trying to figure out what brokerage to choose, how to actually sell a house, how to generally succeed as an agent, and found that there were hardly any good, free resources on the internet.

Eventually, I got many of my questions answered after working in the field and talking to people such as my mentor. I had a little bit of success in the beginning which caught the attention of quite a few people. One girl contacted me and wanted something like an interview so she could learn from me.

After the call and listening to some of her questions, I realized there were a lot more people like me who don’t know what they’re getting into as a real estate agent. If only there was a free resource that helps inform those getting into real estate or thinking about getting in.

And that’s how Realchitecture started. It was a personal blog I created to help answer some of the questions new agents might have about real estate.

Involving Everything Real Estate

I had a little talk with my mom, who herself is a small-time real estate investor owning a couple of rental properties, about Realchitecture.

I dream very big. I was talking about how I wanted to make Realchitecture into a nine-figure business.

Although my mom usually scoffs at these statements and tells me to stop dreaming, she was rather open-minded this time and told me where I would run into problems.

I cannot possibly build a nine-figure business if my audience consists solely of real estate agents and that’s not to mention that my audience mostly contains new real estate agents.

I needed to branch out into many different real estate niches and help all sorts of people. So I started brainstorming about who I could help with Realchitecture.

There were many things that came to my head. Realchitecture could help real estate investors, builders, designers, anyone looking to buy or sell a home or make improvements to their current home, and more.

What I quickly realized was that I am not able to produce high-quality content consistently for everyone. I do not know everything about everything related to real estate. Nor do I have the time or tenacity to spend hundreds of hours every week creating content.

And that’s when Realchitecture stopped being about me and started being about us.

Our content now comes from many different people smarter and more experienced than me in their respective fields. When you subscribe to Realchitecture, you’ll find yourself getting expert content from all sorts of people and their perspectives.
